Welcome to Axel Peterson Family Farms
In Loving Memory
Axel T. Peterson, Jr.
1931 - 2007
We have been shipping the finest Indian River Citrus
for three generations and proudly guarantee that you
and your loved ones will enjoy the wonderful gifts that
we personally pack and ship with extra care!
Many factors play an important role in producing our
World Renowned Indian River Citrus, which include our
unique soil composition, the close proximity to the
Gulf Stream, the nearness to the salt water of the
Atlantic Ocean and the perfect amount of rainfall.
The Axel Peterson Family,
Gayle, Bonnie and Kenny
It all began in 1913 when our Grandfather, Axel Peterson Sr.,
traded a boarding house in Moline, Illinois for 20 acres of land in
Vero (not yet Vero Beach) to start a new life…and began growing
crops of citrus. He shipped his fruit on boats out of Fort Pierce to
auction in New York, where grocery stores and hotels would bid
for Indian River Fruit – which was fast gaining recognition as the
finest and most desirable citrus in America, and it continues to be
to this day! Credit is given to our grandfather for cultivating the first
Navel Oranges in Indian River County.
Our dad, Axel Peterson Jr., worked with his father until 1958 when
he branched out on his own and planted his own crop of citrus trees.
He completed the building of his own packinghouse in May 1959
where he served his customers for 50 years, until the Lord took him
home in December 2007.
As the third generation we are continuing to ship Axel Peterson Citrus, following in the
footsteps of our father and grandfather. We promise to make our father proud of the
legacy he left behind. We have transformed Dad’s old “honey barn” into a country store
where we’ll continue to offer the very best INDIAN RIVER CITRUS as well as a full line of
FRESH PRODUCE, Orange Blossom Honey, Jams, Jellies, Coconut Patties and
Unique Florida Souvenirs. Stop by soon for a complimentary glass of Fresh Squeezed
Orange Juice!
Just as Dad picked, packed and shipped his citrus to his valued customers through the
years, we’ll continue his tradition. Our family would be honored to send you or your
loved ones a healthy, delicious package of your choice. He taught us well…
